My doctor recommended HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and since I was willing to do just about anything to alleviate the uncomfortable symptoms, I tried it for several months until it became necessary to increase the dosage. After finally being able to get off drugs I wasn't willing to become dependent on them again...espcially with the prospect of having to increase the dosage for who knows how long. Plus, I discovered that Premarin, the HRT I was on, is made from pregnant mare urine (YUCK!!!). So...... I started researching alternatives.

For eleven years I was on steroids for Crohn's Disease. At the age of 46 I had surgery to remove the disease and was thrilled not to be dependent on drugs until I discovered that the combination of disease, surgery and drug withdrawal had thrown me into early menopause complete with most of the symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, confusion, disorientation, memory loss, mental fog, diminished sex drive, intimate dryness, etc., etc., etc.

First, I hope to educate you a little more on how your body works, the phases it goes through and the fact that all of these phases are completely natural. Our bodies are supposed to do what they do as we age and are designed so perfectly that so long as we make healthy, natural choices, the journey into middle age can be fairly uneventful and the best time of your life.
Second, I hope to instill in you a sense of self awareness and control which will help you to feel more comfortable with your body, yourself and the person that you are. After overcoming disease and ballooning to a hefty size 12 on my 5 foot frame, I took control of my life and got down to the size 6 I've maintained for over six years.
I want you to start right now to become the best "you", you can be. Learn how to take control of your health and fitness. Learn to set realistic goals. Learn that perfect doesn't mean being a size 4 and looking 20 all of your life. I think perfection is waking up every morning feeling good, and happy to be alive. I want you to look in that mirror and love the person staring back at you!
